Asthma

Asthma is a condition characterized by a paroxysmal wheezing respiration dyspnoea (difficulty in breathing), mainly expiratory.
In asthma the bronchial tubes narrow and this makes it more difficult to breathe.

Symptoms that occur include:

  • chest tightness

  • coughing

  • wheezy breathing

  • shortness of breath

These symptoms may simply occur when the body has to work harder – such as on walking quickly, going upstairs or running. People who suffer from hay fever may find that they get asthma-like symptoms too.

The major triggers for asthma include:

  • poor or polluted air

  • tobacco smoke

  • emotional stress

  • cold air

  • exercise

  • upper respiratory tract infections (head colds and sore throats)

  • exposure to things that provoke an allergic response

While dealing with a case of asthma, a homeopath not only records the symptoms of the disease but also studies the medical history, family history, physical and psychological characteristics of a person. This helps to find the cause, the precipitating factors, and the hereditary tendency etc. The correct remedy can avert an acute crisis, while ongoing treatment will work to clear the condition completely.
