C-Section

A C-section is a surgical delivery of a baby through incisions in the mother’s abdomen and uterus. It’s typically done when a vaginal birth is too risky.

The recovery time is longer than a vaginal birth (4 weeks).

6 postnatal weeks are recommended before starting abdominal rehabilitation with a physiotherapist.

Physiotherapy is the key to recover after a C-section to retrain the abdominal muscles and tissues that are cut during surgery. It improves function, posture, and reduces the risk of complications such as back pain and incontinence.
