Acupuncture is an ancient medicine that’s perfect for the modern world. It emphasises physical, mental and spiritual well-being. It is based on the theory that energy or Qi (pronounced Chi) flows through our bodies in pathways called meridians. When the energy or the Qi is blocked, illness and pain occur. Acupuncture can unblock, balance and help Qi to flow more freely and therefore aid the healing process.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is gentle, natural and holistic in nature. After chatting with your practitioner about your concerns, you then relax on a soft table, listen to soothing music and enjoy the healing properties of a heated UV lamp while receiving your acupuncture treatment. Most people experience deep relaxation and calm during their treatments. It’s also common to use other TCM therapies such as acupressure massage, moxibustion, cupping, gua sha (gentle scraping) and deep breathing to aid healing. Most people are aware that acupuncture can help with pain: back pain, knee pain, shoulder pain and menstrual pain to name a few.

But Acupuncture also helps the body to get back into balance after an illness or trauma. Here is a list from the WHO (World Health Organization) of conditions in which acupuncture can be beneficial.
